Climate in Mauritius

In Mauritius, we have two main seasons that is directly related to temperature, sun and bad weather. Compared to Europe having 4 seasons, Mauritius has summer and winter seasons. The island takes great advantage of the tropical climate of the southern hemisphere. The hot and humid summer season is between the month of November to April and the dry and warm winter is between the month of June till October. May and October are the transition month between each season. Mauritius cyclones in the Indian Ocean are normally formed in the summer, being more frequent in February and anti-cyclones occurs in the winter season which slightly decrease the temperature and bringing rainfall to the winter climate.

The temperature of the air in Mauritius varies between 22°C to 30°C in the winter period and in summer, the temperature varies between 26°C to 31°C. Port-Louis, the capital of Mauritius being densely populated, the temperature is normally slightly higher compared to other regions, reaching the optimum temperature of 31°C in summer (December to March). Water temperature in Mauritius sea has an average temperature of 23°C to 28°C annually. April is considered to be the perfect month in Mauritius where the sea temperature at the beautiful beaches of Mauritius is very warm (26°C - 28°C) and the sun is not much scorching compared to other months of summer season but do get rainfall sometimes. However, Mauritius has always been an ideal island of enjoy holidays through out the year and the famous beaches of Mauritius like Pereybère, Mont-Choisy, Belle Mare, Flic en Flac, Trou aux Biches amongst others have made Mauritius the perfect island for enjoying the climate, temperature, sun, sand and sea.
