Rodrigues island is about 650 km off north-east of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean at latitude 19°43’ S and longitude 63°25’ E. Being of volcanic origin, Rodrigues form part of the Republic of Mauritius with a population of around 38,000 inhabitants. Being a tourist destination, Rodrigues offers many beautiful sites such as Ile aux Cocos, the beach of Trou D'Argent, Carverne Patate, Mont Limon and without forgetting, its capital Port Mathurin. The island has a surface area of approximately 108 square km. Similar to the weather in Mauritius, Rodrigues weather being tropical, the temperature varies between 28°C and 35°C during the summer season and 18°C and 27°C during the winter season. Rodrigues is also influenced by tropical cyclones in the Indian Ocean and as well as anti-cyclones.
